Yoko
The painting Yoko develops a dialogue within my Porcelain Objects series. It fascinates me how the two cups side by side appear as two figures in the middle of an intimate conversation. The blue décor on them looks like a rare tattoo that glows against the minimalist, almost "digitally" simplified background. The pair hovers above a dark reflection that blurs the line between reality and illusion. Although the work appears realistic at first glance, it is built from boldly simplified planes—a realism that isn't truly there, prompting the viewer to imagine every detail. The geometric background of historical tiling then anchors the entire scene in a strict, yet warm rhythm. It is a painting about closeness and silent beauty that needs no hyper-realistic precision to speak to the soul.
