Azurit the Bunny

The inspiration for this painting came from the song Králíček Azurit (Azurit the Bunny) by the legendary duo Hapka and Horáček, its depth further amplified by the unmistakable voice of Daniel Landa. The lyrics pose a chilling, provocative question: Is it easier to feed a blue advertising bunny or a real human child? It is a mirror held up to our indifference and a world where we sometimes care more about symbols than about flesh-and-blood people.
While the theme is serious, my Azurit on the canvas carries a different story as well. I wanted to transform this social critique into something that offers meaning and hope. I believe that simply asking ourselves such a question is the first step toward being better. Ultimately, this blue fluffy character stands as a reminder of our playfulness and our capacity for compassion. I hope that looking at him brings a smile and the feeling that if we keep our hearts in the right place, there will eventually be enough "carrots" and love for real children and for our colorful dreams alike.
