Willi

I am a Scorpio, and water is my absolute element. The wilder it gets, the better I feel. I have this "perverse" kind of happiness that only arrives when a real storm breaks loose. I might feel differently if I were right in the middle of the raging waves, but from a safe distance, it’s pure euphoria for me.

This painting, Willi, carries a memory of Sassnitz on Rügen, Germany. I stood there on the shore, on those massive boulders, the wind tearing at my hair, rain lashing my face, and I was simply ecstatic. I love the feeling when water, wind, and rain merge into one untamed, ultramarine element. The painting Willi is my way of capturing that raw energy that the sea charges me with every time. It’s a celebration of a force much greater than ourselves, yet one that can make us incredibly happy.
