Lockdown in Bohemia
The painting Lockdown in Bohemia captures the contradictory euphoria after the first wave. While the media fueled our fear, healthcare workers on the front lines knew exactly what the reality was. I spent that time in the peace of the mountains, where the virus barely existed, only to later watch the feast on Charles Bridge in disbelief. My tangram figures run toward freedom, but with a question looming: was that joy premature? It is a record of a time when our perception of reality was fractured between screen-induced fear and the longing for human connection.
