Courtship

The painting Courtship is a celebration of spring as a symbol of new beginnings, harmony, and awakening instincts. For me, this season is fascinating for its scent of earth, hope, and new energy, which I decided to portray through a geometrized origami world.

The theme of courtship unfolds on two distinct levels. Down by the pond, we observe a pair of rabbits where it is clear at first glance who is male and who is female—a scene of peace and legible relationships. In contrast, three avian actors circle in a dynamic dance high in the sky under a monumental yellow sun. Here, certainty vanishes. Is it a battle between two males for one female, or is it something else entirely? It is precisely this ambiguity and the question of "who knows how it is," which remains hanging in the air with the birds, that adds tension and fascination to the spring ritual.
