Close Encounters
This painting captures that unique moment when a journey through the void of space turns into a destination. Our mission from the Signals series has reached its climax—purple tangram ships finally hover above the horizon of an unknown planet after long light-years of travel. That red circle is no longer just a distant dot on a map, but a tangible world calling out to us. The black lines surrounding the ships are the last remnants of our technological certainties and calculations that brought us here. But now, mathematics gives way to wonder. I borrowed the title from the famous movie because, here too, we stand on the threshold of something grand. The fear of the unknown dissolves into colors, leaving only a pure promise: we are no longer alone, the encounter is about to happen any second.
