Blesk Spa Cup
In the painting Lázeňský pohárek Blesk, two striking geometric elements meet. The dominant feature is the simplified form of a porcelain cup from Ateliér JM Lesov, whose jagged handle resembles a lightning bolt. For the background, I chose an abstracted tile pattern from the 14th century, which I saw at an exhibition of archaeological finds from Karlovy Vary spa houses. The goal was to connect two symbols associated with the spa culture—modern porcelain and historical tiling—into a single structured composition.
