THE SIGNALS SERIES

I have always been fascinated by how humanity constantly gazes at the stars, trying to determine whether we are alone in the universe. We send out signals, search for habitable planets, embark on interstellar missions, and hope that one day, we will receive a response. This series emerged from my thoughts on what such a contact would mean. We long to meet another intelligence, yet at the same time, we fear the unknown.

We are often led to believe that an advanced civilization must automatically be a threat. Wars and conflicts dominate our media, shaping the way we project our fears into space. But what if there are beings who have long moved beyond what we perceive as power, conquest, and domination? What if the signals we send are merely echoes of our own desire to understand not only the universe but also ourselves?

In this series, I use tangram to express the relationship between science, imagination, and our perceptions of the cosmos. Each painting offers a different perspective on our attempt to make contact—whether with other worlds or with the deeper questions we carry within us.
