THE LIFE IN ABSTRACTION SERIES
In this series, I was loosely inspired by Piet Mondrian's neoplasticism, but I composed the structure according to my own principles. Although I work with geometric forms and a color palette of red, blue, yellow, white, and black—iconic to Mondrian—I adapted the structure of the paintings to the principles of the golden ratio. Every element has its precisely designated space, even though at first glance, the composition appears playful and dynamic.
Into this rigid structure, I incorporate tangram figures that bring a new narrative to the otherwise strictly geometric framework. For me, tangram symbolizes infinite variability and creative freedom, and in contrast with the structured background, it comes to life in a new dimension. I chose a distinct color scheme for the tangrams—using gold, copper, and other shades—to add depth and materiality to the paintings.
This series is my exploration of the relationship between strict abstraction and the playful geometry of tangrams. I seek balance between order and freedom, between construction and spontaneity.
