Combine origami and landscape?
the way I see it
"On the shore of a pond" is my mid-2024 oil painting, combining the peaceful atmosphere of an outdoor landscape with the playful presence of origami animals. I see these paper creatures as a symbol of creativity and imagination - they express my belief that even in reality there can be elements of dreaminess and lightness.
In working on this painting, I wanted to emphasize the contrast between the classical technique of oil painting and the modern motif of origami. The layering of colours and subtle brushstrokes reflect my respect for tradition, while the solid and precise lines of the paper animals refer to contemporary notions of art. At the same time, I am trying to capture a moment when fantasy lightly touches reality - the landscape retains its natural poetry, while a playful element of human imagination is mixed in.
In the final impression, I consider this painting to be a kind of encounter between peaceful nature and subtle human intervention. I see the origami animals as a non-violent enlivenment of the landscape, offering a peaceful place to pause and reflect. I wish that "On the Shore of the Pond" reminds the viewer that even in ordinary reality one can find a bit of dreamlike playfulness - one only needs to look carefully and allow oneself to transcend the limits of everyday perception.
I sincerely hope that this painting will appeal to everyone who looks at it and evoke a mood similar to the one I felt when I created it. May the new year be a time of inspiration, bold ideas and constant exploration of new paths in art and life for all of us.
