Series Life in Abstraction
the way I see it
This painting is another piece from my series in which I systematically explore the principle of the golden ratio—it is precisely this harmonious geometry that underpins the entire composition, including every square and rectangle in the background. My intention was to create a carefully conceived structure in which each shape communicates with the others through its proportions, fostering a sense of calm and order.
In contrast to the precise lines and colored fields derived from the golden ratio, the center of attention is occupied by a dog painted in gold. The animal’s silhouette symbolizes vitality, loyalty, and spontaneity. While the geometry itself references a refined mathematical tradition, the metallic depiction of the dog appears to both disrupt and enliven that order. At the same time, it serves as a sort of “guide” for the viewer through a world of precisely defined proportions, as its organic shape draws attention to what lies beyond mere lines and angles.
Working with different metallic hues to portray the dog is a key motif throughout this series—it adds elements of nobility and timelessness to the artwork while still relying on the solid foundation of geometric rules. I believe that this tension between perfectly calculated ratios and the spontaneous presence of the dog’s golden silhouette can spark reflections in the viewer about the balance between order and freedom, mathematics and life, stability and playfulness. In this way, the dog becomes a mirror of our own desires and emotions—a shimmering metallic presence within an artistically rendered harmony.
