Series Life in Abstraction
the way I see it
In my latest series, I work with a harmony grounded in the golden ratio, whose proportions have always fascinated me. From the outset, I approached the canvas as a mathematical task: I carefully drew rectangles and squares and calculated their arrangement according to the golden ratio. This created a sense of “order” in which the colored areas organically interconnect while retaining their strict geometry.
In terms of color, I built on the compositions of Piet Mondrian, examining how the four basic colors (white, red, blue, and yellow) can shift in relation to the golden ratio and different formats. To add a playful element to this abstract structure, I incorporated the silhouette of a dog assembled from a tangram. This introduced a contrast between the stark geometry and a figurative motif, bringing energy and a sense of story to the piece.
The 25 × 30 cm format allows me to study compositional relationships and color work in detail. In the future, I plan to move to larger canvases, which will enrich these same principles with new dimensions. I believe the tension between the order of the golden ratio and the playfulness of the tangram becomes a key mode of expression that I intend to continue developing.
