Between Glaze and Dream
Gallery Jindra Husáriková, Karlovy Vary, 2025–2026
It all began with drawing.
With a line that became breath.
Painting was not a decision, but a natural movement of the hand — as instinctive as the movement of thought.
Lenka Husáriková moves through her painterly world in a rhythm of transformations. Her work unfolds in distinct periods, shifting like the seasons — realistic landscapes, still lifes, and figures gradually give way to geometry, shapes, lines, and light. At times they return, at others they disappear beyond the horizon. Yet she never loses contact with her inner core.
Origami and tangram — two ancient principles of assembling — have become a language through which she speaks without words. From simple shapes she constructs a world that can be playful and serious at once, concrete and dreamlike. Each triangle, square, or circle carries a fragment of a story: of balance, of searching, of patience, of order and chance — forces that depend on one another.
This exhibition marks another pause along that path.
Porcelain — fragile and strong at the same time — becomes a symbol here. In painting, it transforms into colour, light, and reflection. Sometimes it remains realistic, at other times entirely abstract. Glaze as the sheen of the past, dream as the possibility of the future.
Between them — between glaze and dream — the artist herself moves.
She seeks balance between discipline and intuition, between reality and vision, between structure and emotion.
Like Gerhard Richter, she moves freely between genres, yet never loses her own voice.
From each period she carries forward an experience that quietly imprints itself into the next layer of paint.
Her current works resemble cities of dreams — nameless, yet charged with their own energy.
They are places one may return to, or lose oneself within. Places built from the architecture of light, dust, sound, and silence.
And if you look long enough, you may realise that this is not about porcelain, city, or form.
It is about movement — about a process in which a thought becomes an image,
and the image becomes a space where dreams meet matter.
